Leavesden Cycle Hub Closure – 4th July 2023

We are consolidating the work of the Cycle Hubs into one site in Watford.

Over the last few years, the Cycle Hub has benefitted from the support of the cycling community across Hertfordshire as we have developed our services helping more people get pedalling and stay pedalling.

Now seems a good time to take stock and consolidate a little on the work we have done and we have decided to make an important change to our services.

WHAT IS HAPPENING

We are consolidating our operations into the Watford Cycle Hub and will close the on site Cycle Hub facility in Leavesden Country Park.

By operating out of a single site, we can continue to offer training, advice and servicing cost effectively. Additionally, consolidation of the team on one site allows us to explore how to bring our help to a wider catchment area across the Three Rivers District through pop-up repair clinics and a wider choice of locations for training.

Since opening its doors in 2018, the team at Leavesden Cycle Hub have supported thousands of cyclists; they have repaired over 3,000 bikes, taught over 700 people to ride, suggested route information and led free rides around the local area.

In addition to the option of Watford Cycle Hub, the growing success of the independent St Albans Cycle Hub CIC also means that current and future cyclists in and around Leavesden will still be close to community-led cycling support.

OUR TEAM

We’re particularly proud of our friendly and professional team and their dedication and commitment to making the Cycle Hub experience a great one. And we’re glad that they will either be coming over to the Watford Cycle Hub on King George V Playing Fields, off Tolpits Lane WD18 9QD or we have been able to support them in finding roles elsewhere where their brilliant skills will be put to good use.

OUR PARTNERS

The Leavesden Cycle Hub also has a debt of gratitude to our loyal customers, volunteers, coaches, trainers, Three Rivers DC councillors and officers, One YMCA and the many local advocates that have shared our vision and their custom, experience and expertise.

This development will enable us to continue to develop our offer of community-minded cycling support. In the current climate we want to continue to provide the best value possible from our purpose built premises in Watford and consolidation will allow us to maintain and develop our
workshop services along with the training of adults and young people.

Our website details the services which we will continue to provide.

And we’re looking forward to keeping working with Three Rivers, One YMCA and our close partners at St Albans Cycling Hub to ensure that cycle training, led rides and cycling related events are still open and accessible where they are most needed.
