Balance Biking
£15 for 3 x 30-minute sessions or £3 for a 30-minute taster session
A 3-week course based on learning to ride a balance bike. The course will assist children to develop their fine and gross motor skills, which are needed for the confidence to use a balance bike. This is a great first step towards learning to ride a pedal bike.
Each 30-min session will include games and activities to teach the children to balance, propel, glide, control and stop their bike and will take place on the mini town area right outside the Cycle Hub.
We also offer a single 30-minute taster session for those looking to try it out before committing to the longer course.
The course is for children aged 2 to 4 years, in a small group of up to 5 children. A parent/carer must be present during each of the session.
Helmets must be worn. Bring your own balance bike or hire one for £3 per session from the Cycle Hub
The course will be led by a qualified National Standards for Cycle Training instructor, British Cycling Level 2 coach.

This is a course for children that can already ride a bike, (if your child cannot ride a bike without stabilisers, please look at Kids ‘Learn 2 Ride’ above or the one-to-one training options).
Children will enjoy learning the skills and developing the confidence to ride their bikes on today’s roads.
There are three Bikeability levels, with each level designed to help improve their cycling skills, no matter what they know already. Levels 1, 2 and 3 take trainees on a journey from the basics of balance and control, all the way through to planning and making a journey by themselves on busier roads.
- Level 1 is a 1-day course and will help new riders to control their bike before they move on to developing on-road skills at Level 2.
- Level 2 is a 4-day course* and is usually tackled by children in Years 5 or 6, before they leave primary school.
- Level 3 is a 3-day course and teaches how to ride in different and more challenging traffic situations and is usually completed by children of secondary school age. To register, participants must have already successfully completed Level 2.

£50 per hour
If one of our regular courses is too far in the future, fully booked or not at a time that you can make – don’t worry – you have another option. One to one (or one to two if you have a friend that also needs to learn) is available on demand. Having the full attention of our instructor, rather than in a group, will allow us to tailor the content and focus of your training around your individual needs.
