Watford Cycle Hub Supports Proud Watford

The Watford Cycle Hub team at the Proud Watford Launch event in June 2023.

Since our launch Watford Cycle Hub has always been an inclusive organisation. Our main aim is to make cycling accessible to all ages, races and abilities, and we find huge parallels in all missions to increase inclusivity across society.

We are therefore proud to support Proud Watford in their aim of making Watford a place where everyone is accepted and greeted with open arms no matter their identity, ability, or disability.

You may already be aware of Herts Pride, which is a joyful and fun event with live music and dancing, supported by our local council and many local businesses. This year it is to be held on Saturday 19th August in Cassiobury Park.

About Proud Watford

Proud Watford is a new initiative for 2023, and is a series of events in the week of 12th – 19th August leading up to Herts Pride created and promoted by a group of supportive businesses, organisations and individuals. Events include the brewing of a ‘Queer Beer’ by Pope’s Yard and Creative Juices, to a hilarious and cheeky Alternative Quiz at the Pumphouse Theatre, plus food and drink and board games and emotional support.

The Rainbow Ride

As part of Proud Watford week Watford Cycle Hub is delighted to be running a Free and Fun Guided Ride on 19th August starting at 11am at the hub, and taking most of the route of the new Watford Green Ring, finishing at Cassiobury Park to meet the Proud Watford “Together As One” event and watch the music and entertainment prior to attending Herts Pride for those who have tickets.

Ride leaders will be wearing rainbow flags and proudly and loudly supporting our LGBTQI+ community on the ride, and we encourage all riders to do the same.

Let’s share the love, and fun and joy. #loveislove

See you there!
