You may have heard about elderly Watford residents having rides in one of our new ‘Trishaws’ and wonder what exactly a Trishaw is!
A Trishaw is a three-wheeled carriage propelled by a ‘Pilot’ which is a fancy name for a cyclist in this case but don’t worry, they don’t take off!
It gets its name from tri – meaning three (wheels) and -shaw from Rickshaw, a similar carriage but one that’s usually carried on foot.
Whilst Trishaw rides are prioritised for elderly or less able Watford residents, you can volunteer to ‘pilot’ one if you have some spare time and are willing to undertake some free training. See our Trishaw page for details.
